This heated blanket is perfect for those who still like to camp in cold weather, like our family. This is soft, heats up quickly, and is easy to connect. It's not a huge blanket; the measurements given in the ad are accurate (57" x 40"). It is great to use over your legs or your body when it's very cold. Even if it's unplugged, it's still a pretty good throw blanket. The fleece is very soft and fluffy.
I think the timer settings are a little surprising… 2h, 8h, and 12h. 8h and 12h is a long time! I suppose it's intended for use while sleeping, but I haven't actually used it for that long continuously yet. I certainly wouldn't want it at the highest setting for that long, but I can see how it might be nice at a lower setting while sleeping.
I have not yet tried to wash it. It seems to be sewed together well, but between the heating elements and the power port, I intend to be careful with washing it. The cord does detach easily. Please make sure to protect it from being chewed on by dogs, as that would surely hurt the blanket and quite possibly the dog!
I took some pictures with an IR camera to see the heating element (attached). These were taken just a minute or two after turning it on at the highest setting. Interestingly, you can see the layout of the heating elements much more clearly through the "arctic fleece" side, which also seems to have sections that are much warmer. But, I'm not sure if this is because the nylon side is distributing the heat better, or if the heating elements are closer to the fleece side.
It's a great accessory to have in the car if you live somewhere cold, and the carrying bag works well! I only wish it had an A/C adapter for using in a house, because that would really make it more versatile.
