This is a review of the ISLEWIRE 50 Amp RV power outlet box.

I am preparing to have some electrical additions and updates made to my home and I want those additions to include the installation of this 50 Amp outlet box. This box is designed to be an outlet for up to 50 Amps of 125/250 Volts of A/C power. It has a NEMA 14-50R receptacle mounted within the box and the box has a lockable cover to prevent unwanted tampering with the connection. The box is designed for mounting in an outdoor location and has the appropriate waterproofing features built-in. Furthermore, this box has a corrosion-resistant paint coating so it should last for many years.

I just received this item today and I am surprised by the weight of the item and the thickness of the steel used to product the box. Way to impress me, Gentlemen. Additionally, the finish of the paint on the box is exemplary. The box is equipped with a NEMA 14-50R receptacle (and it is so marked) mounted within the box. NEMA refers to the “National Electrical Manufacturers Association” which is a group that sets standards for electrical components and equipment, including enclosure ratings that indicate a product's ability to withstand specific environmental conditions. The outlet installed in the box is “ETL Listed” and bears the ETL symbol. "ETL Listed" means a product has been tested and certified by “Electrical Testing Laboratories” to meet applicable safety standards. This certification process provides assurance that the product has undergone independent testing and meets the safety requirements for its intended use. ETL is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) as is Underwriters Laboratories (UL). I like this product very much and it will be most useful for my upcoming electrical project.

This 50-amp power outlet box includes a power indicator light to inform the user that the power is enables to the outlet. The bright LED power indicator light will be illuminated when the circuit breaker is on and power is connected to the box. The power outlet box also includes a padlock-compatible design to ensure that access is limited to those who can remove an applied padlock. The power outlet box cover can also be locked with the plug installed into the outlet and thus prevent unauthorized removal of a power cord.

This project started with the simple idea of adding a 50 Amp generator inlet box so that I can run a large portable generator to power my home in case we have more hurricanes that take out the local electrical grid for two weeks like last October. I am now planning for the addition of an electrical subpanel and this power outlet box. I am very happy with this product and I am very impressed with the quality of the product.

This was easy to install (electrician said so), the doors open and close nicely and its quality is top notch. We had this installed for our Teslas home charging and it performs perfectly. It can be used indoors or outdoors without issue. I recommend this for Ev charging, but it can be used for other things as well.

This thing is built like a tank and then some. It's heavier than many other electrical enclosures I've used that are larger and have more components in them. The enclosure is very thick, rigid, and extraordinarily durable. I love the screw-on plates they used for inlet holes. Not only are they waterproof (rubber grommet), but they include several different sizes of inlet plates for any size of conduit fitting that you can swap out in 10 seconds. This is a super compelling product, and even at the higher price point I can see myself buying these in the future for clients that value proper quality.

The quality of this item is overall equal to or better than any units I was able to find at local hardware stores. Plus, it is the only one of the ones I looked at that the cover can fully close on the typical EV charging plug while it is plugged in!

It has a very nice assortment of covers to match almost any use need. No more needing to punch out special oversized holes like happens often with other enclosures.
