I live near Chicago and this came a couple of days before our first big storm of 2025. I plugged it in and put it out on the front step. When I checked it in the morning it did its job and kept the snow clear on the mat. If you check the picture, I have the snow melt mat next to my regular front door mat. Woohoo! You can also kind of see the problem which is that it’s kind of skinny. I guess this would be perfect for steps since it’s about as wide as a step but along the whole front stoop it only covers a partial. I got the 10×30 to test and they also have 20×30 and 20×60. The 20×30 probably would have matched my current welcome mat but is still kind of small. The 20×60 would have covered half of my front stoop, so I’d need two. It works like it should though but for me to get two of the large ones I’d spend quite a penny when shoveling works for free. Lol. You can link multiple mats together and they have covers on the plugs for any unused connections for safety. The only complaint is that there isn’t an on/off switch, so it’s just plug and go. To have control over that, you’d have to plug it into an outdoor power strip or on a timer strip. There is a button, but the light always stays on, unless it is broken.
Pros: Works great to keep snow off
Cons: No on/off switch, small and pricey
