This portable charging kit comes in a compact carry bag. The charging unit includes two separate power plugs and cables. One plug fits a standard 15 amp 120 volt wall outlet, and a separate plug fits a standard 20 amp 240 volt wall outlet, which lookd similar but has one of the plug pins turned 90 degrees (which keeps from plugging a 120 volt device into a 140 volt outlet).
In the electric vehicle world, this is considered both a "Level 1" charger, and "Level 2" charger. Any Level 1 charger uses a lower capacity 120 volt power supply, and Level 2 chargers charge from a 240 volt supply capable of double the charging rate. Typically it takes 8 hours to charge most EVs at the Level 1 charge rate, and 4 hours at the Level 2 rate, so this kit is intended for situations when you need to plug into a standard wall outlet at home or perhaps a friendly restaurant on road when low on charge and unable to reach one of the commercial fast chargers.
Almost all electric vehicles (except Tesla) use the same charger plug handle included in this kit. However, their are very-low cost adapters available that will allow this same plug handle to charge any Tesla.
The charging plug handle includes a 25 foot long cable which should easily reach most wall outlet locations.
The components appear to be very rugged and this should be a must have item for the trunk. The carry case also has enough extra space to also store a handful of emergency road flairs and emergency flashlight.
